Marathon has a wonderful sense of disconnect and abstractness from its AI overlords, their faceless text demanding your obedience from beings who take up an entire ship’s worth of electronics and vastly surpassing the player’s intellect.

The player’s lack of agency, able to express themselves only through violence, when contrasted with the experiences of tethered AI makes for a key thematic part of the story. What's more, exploring this story is surpisingly engaging, each twist and turn leading into the next and recontextualising the game mechanics to narrative needs. A fascinating game, attached to a competent, if slightly janky FPS.
